March 2022 - Progress and Thoughts

I thought it would be a good idea to keep track of any progress made towards achieving  my end goal (Te ARAROA), as well  as any thoughts I may have regarding the same. I hope to publish this randomly until October.

Progress:

·         Web Site: Is published, as those of you who have subscribed will know.

o   I have started another version of the Urban Dictionary, on this website it shall be known as the Hikers Urban dictionary and has been tailored slightly to The Te ARAROA

·         Start Date: My start date is the 07th  October, the High tide time for this date is at 04:14, so I am thinking the tide will be far enough out at 07:00 to ensure that the Rocks below the Lighthouse at Cape Reinga will be exposed enough to walk around and make for an easier Day 1

Thoughts:

It is amazing how nervous, apprehensive and excited one can be 5 months out from my start date, I have read other hikers Blogs and they have also encounter these feelings along way out from their start date.

I get to thinking about

·         What I will miss being away from home for approximately 6 months;

o   Family

o   Grand Daughters first Birthday

o   Grand Daughters first Christmas etc, etc, etc

·         Anything and Everything that could possible go wrong, equipment, weather, injury …

·         Friends

·         What do I have left to do

I have done so much preparation towards this adventure and continue to do so, I can only remain positive and draw inspiration from those who have walked the TA before me

P.S Believe it or not I will be in New Zealand 4 weeks before my start date on a family holiday, I hope Customs don’t think I am a Drug mule when I arrive the second time. 😊
