Day 5 - Hukatere Lodge - Waipapakauri Holiday Park

Distance Walked: 18Km

Trail Covered: 90km

Weather: Bright, sunny with a couple of showers

Note: A great day, we smashed out a quick 18Km before lunch.

This picture was taken at 0641 am, the day ahead looked bleak at this time.

We hit the beach at 07:17, the day looks to be on the improve.

As we move further down the Beach the traffic continues to pick up, not quite rush hour yet. This is the first for the day.

Randomly along 90Km of beach you come across these collection of shells.

2nd Breakfast, Wrap, Vegemite & Cheese, yep the Cheese has lasted 5 days out of the fridge.

The first water crossing, hikers come across a lot of these whilst on 90 Mile Beach.

It’s 11am, and I came across this guy doing some Surf Fishing, he already had 2 x 2 1/2 foot snappers in his Chilly Bin. (Next Time I will snap the fish as well)

The Hand turned up at the Community Kitchen today, it was a warm walk “I think I’ll have a Coke”

Apart from a couple of showers todays weather was great for walking, the group decide to stop half way to Ahipara today to ease the workload on our feet. A Special Edition is coming!
