Day 10 Mangamuka to Blackbridge Camp

Distance Walked: 00 Km

Date 15 Oct 2022

Hitched 14Km

Trail Covered: 160Km

Weather: Over cast with some drizzle

Note: Today was a lot of up hill through rural farm land.

Here we go, a sunny start to the day with clouds rolling in.

As you can see we continue through the local Farming community.

So as with most of the Farm animals, just I want to take a shot they run away, .these four guys were so cute

So for those who can remember, this is New Zealand’s equivalent to Woodstock. Yep, the sign is hard to see.

Finally into the Forest areas, but first we had to find a Runway!

Not long after we came across this cement “U” shaped bunker which looked great for a rest spot. A quick glance over the top was what could be loosely called a Runway, it should have been on those utube clips of worst landing strips as it went downwards very quickly

.

Finally it’s 11 o’clock and I get into he photo, just working hard uphill.

So the trail notes tell us that if the water is flowing over this spoon drain then you should not proceed, lucky us we were able to go forward. Some of the people behind us took a dip here, apparently the water was so cold you could freeze the Balls of a Brass Monkey.

So no pictures of the wonderful camp facility as there was some precipitation, however later in the day we were able to produce this great picture as an example of how we come together at the end of the day.

The Hand was getting involved in the Kauri Dieback programme making sure everybody was cleaning there boots.

A little bit chilly tonight so its on with the Beanie, nothing worse than getting out of bed at 0300 to go to the loo!

At the end of each day we all gather around to discuss what happened, todays discussion turned more towards the next day, the Weather, the Forest and the Mud to come.

Safe travels everyone.

Good Night
