Day 18 Helena Bay to Whananaki
Distance Walked: 26Km
Date 23 Oct 2022
Hitched 36Km
Trail Covered: 325Km
Weather: Over cast and a little humid
Note: Road walking is becoming a part of every day.
Both Jerome and myself got ahead start on the day (8km) as we tried to fit in with Trail Angel Dave’s plans for the day.
As we weaved in and out of the forest track we were treated to view like this one.
Helena Bay from a distance.
This is what the Forest sort of looked like, as usual you don’t get to see the rougher parts.
We could have stayed at this camp site last night, it would have made a 30+km walk, and we would have missed the Trail Angels.
On trail, just one of many great visits that we are treated to day after day.
.
Damn it, back on the dirt roads.
11 o’clock photo today, we took an opportunity to both have a snack and dry our tents
No we are not so popular with the cows, they actual think we are going to feed them, Jerome take the opportunity to say good morning Quarter Pounders.
So as usual after some time on the road we were able to drop down onto a coastal track, so late in the day we got muddy feet. At the end of the track we ended up on this beach.
And then onto this manicured lawn.
A very nice holiday park..
At the end of another long day with mostly road walking.
The hand watching me put up our tent.
After some very brief walking in the Forest we spent most of the day on roads, further investigation we have found that due to the Kauri Dye Back disease from today onwards the Tramping is 70% Road walking.
Good Night
